The International Dimensions of Digital Science and Scholarship: Aspirations of the British Library in Serving the International Scientific and Scholarly Communities, Lynne Brindley Association of Research Libraries Proceedings of the 148th Membership Meeting Ottawa, Ontario, May 17-19, 2006. (Held in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Research Libraries.)
Excerpt from concluding section: "The very concept of institution is downplayed in the digital world with beneficial effect making institutions less formidable and enabling cross-institutional study. Indeed so far as our users are concerned, institutions are entirely irrelevant in the digital world. Our convergent interests are around a shared network space and yet historically we have focused our efforts within our own institutional and national domains. There are opportunities for joining up our thinking about digital scholarship internationally that will significantly benefit users and require us to think much more creatively, outside our institutional and national boundaries."

Preservation, access and intellectual property rights challenges for libraries in the digital environment, Adrienne Muir, June 2006, © ippr2006, Institute for Public Policy Research.
From the Introduction to the Report: "Increasingly, libraries are acquiring, creating and managing information in digital form. Librarians are digitising collections of individual institutions as well as working with other libraries and knowledge institutions such as museums. They are also developing partnership arrangements with technology companies, such as Google, who are scanning the collections of a number of major libraries in order to include them in the Google Book Search (GBS) facility....In order to understand the impact of intellectual property rights and licensing on access to, and preservation of, information in digital form it is necessary to briefly outline the nature of the intellectual property and other rights involved."

Networking for Digital Preservation. Current Practice in 15 National Libraries, by Ingeborg Verheul. München: Saur, 2006, (IFLA Publications; 119), ISBN 13: 978-3-598-21847-7. (This may be purchased in paper format or viewed online in PDF format.
"Libraries all over the world have to deal with fast growing numbers of digital materials that need to be safeguarded. Publications in digital form, online or on cd, digitised images, and born-digital objects need to be preserved and kept accessible. Especially for national libraries, safeguarding the digital heritage is a major issue, because of their legal task to preserve the national heritage of a country."

Podcasting Legal Guide, Colette Vogele et al., Creative Commons
"The purpose of this Guide is to provide you with a general roadmap of some of the legal issues specific to podcasting. EFF has produced a very practical and helpful guide for issues related to blogging generally (http://www.eff.org/bloggers/). This Guide is not intended to duplicate efforts by EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation), and in many cases refers you to that guide for where crossover issues are addressed. Our goal is to complement EFF's Bloggers FAQ and address some of the standalone issues that are of primary relevance to podcasters, as opposed to bloggers."

7 Things You Should Know About Screencasting, EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative.
Abstract: "A screencast is a video recording of the actions on a user's computer screen, typically with accompanying audio, distributed through RSS. Screencasts can be thought of as video podcasts. They provide a simple means to extend rich course content to anyone who might benefit from the material but cannot attend a presentation."
"The "7 Things You Should Know About..." series from the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) provides concise information on emerging learning practices and technologies. Each brief focuses on a single practice or technology and describes what it is, where it is going, and why it matters to teaching and learning. Use "7 Things You Should Know About..." briefs for a no-jargon, quick overview of a topic and share them with time-pressed colleagues. "
